Karin Melin is, since a couple of weeks ago, the new Programme Director for ICLD’s International Training Programmes. She succeeds Lars Lööf who has retired. Karin most recently comes from Save the Children, where she was responsible for planning, implementing and following-up about 100 humanitarian and long-term development projects around the world.

In June 2019 researchers from around the world gathered for the first Local Democracy Academy organized by the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) in Umeå, Sweden. The objective of the academy was to discuss and present the latest research in the field of local democracy, explore directions for future research and foster collaborations.
We invite participants of ICLD Local Democracy Academy as well as others researching rebel cities and local governments to contribute to an edited volume/special journal issue with the theme ‘Rebel Cities: Local Government and Global Challenges beyond 2030’.
