How we reach the Global Goals
ICLD works together with municipalities and regions to implement the Sustainable Global Goals, SDG’s, and help them reach the goals in practice. ICLD’s role in supporting local democracy is clearly linked to all the goals of Agenda 2030.
However, ICLD identifies five of the Global Goals that are particularly relevant to our work and consistent with democratic values, focusing on the inclusion of marginalised groups, gender equality and the strengthening of local institutions.
Goal 5 – Gender Equality
Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities
Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
