Falun and Mogale, South Africa


This application is part of the “Municipal Partnership for Human Rights” network, an international network of municipal partnerships between Swedish local authorities and their international counterparts in Southern Africa that are committed to achieving Agenda 2030 through a rights based approach and that are keen to work more systematically with human rights at a local level.Falu municipality and Mogale City municipality are applying for an Inception Phase as apart of this network to give us the opportunity to jointly develop a project plan closely linked to a human right topic  participation and influence  and Agenda 2030 goal 16. At this stage both partners have already established a mutual challenge regarding a lack of youth participation in their municipalities and would like to explore further together what their organisations, as duty bearers, can to to ensure the rights of the child are better protected, respected and promoted within their municipality. Keywords for the preparation phase are:- The influence of young people- Democratic development- Agenda 2030- International exchange and understandingDuring the course of the Inception Phase, the partners will ensure that political support is gathered for the partnership and that a steering group is formed in time for the project and steering group application. An MoU between our two organisations will also be signed if a joint willingness to continue the Human Rights partnership is established.
