Regional Alumni Coordinator for ICLD
The Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) is looking for a Regional Alumni Coordinator for Southern Africa (Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa) to strengthen engagement among alumni in the regions. This is a consultancy role on part-time basis. The role is ideal for a highly motivated individual passionate about local democracy, networking, and knowledge sharing, with a deep previous understanding for ICLD’s programmes and objectives.
ICLD has an extensive network of individuals who have participated in International Training Programmes, implemented Municipal Partnership Projects, or conducted research activities. From mayors to inspirational councilors and managers, to NGO representatives and beyond, ICLD alumni foster democratic development in all corners of the world. Our alumni are ambassadors of local democracy, and we are keen to provide platforms for knowledge sharing with a wider audience and support for continued training and peer learning.
Key responsibilities
- Map out ICLD alumni in Southern Africa and facilitate networking and knowledge exchange
- Act as a liaison between ICLD and alumni in the region.
- Organize digital and on-site events and capacity-building workshops and identify other opportunities for alumni to participate.
- Liaise with relevant organisations and institutions in the region to support dissemination of good results
- Support alumni in applying for and leading digital and on-site workshops or dissemination opportunities
- Assist alumni in engaging with ICLD initiatives, including identifying and supporting leading alumni to join ICLD events as participants or contributors.
- Provide consultation hours to ICLD programme manager.
- Regularly share updates and discussions on ICLD’s alumni platforms.
- Document and share alumni success stories.
Who Should Apply?
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in local democracy, governance, or civic engagement.
- Is an ICLD alum or mentor with thorough knowledge about ICLD’s work and objectives
- Has experience coordinating networks.
- Is a strong communicator and organizer, with a proactive approach.
- Has experience with digital engagement, event facilitation, and reporting.
- Can think creatively and identify cost-effective solutions with high impact.
- Can work independently and meet deadlines effectively.
- Can work flexibly according to joint planning of events and workshops, with an average of 10 % of full-time.
Location: Remote (within the designated regional cluster).
Duration: Fixed-term contract until Dec 2025, with potential renewal. The working time is distributed according to joint planning between the alumni coordinators and ICLD programme manager.
Compensation: Fixed amount as per mutual agreement.
