Almedalen Workshop: Inclusive Municipalities for Refugees
This workshop addresses the role of municipalities as frontrunners for the democratic inclusion of refugees. During the workshop government officials and local politicians from different municipalities in Sweden, Kenya and Uganda will meet and discuss how Municipal Partnerships can inspire change in the way our cities address refugee inclusion.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss common challenges and opportunities related to the democratic inclusion of refugees at the local level, including:
- Participation
- Equity and Inclusion
- Transparency
- Possibility to demand Accountability
ICLD will provide support to the participants on how to start up a Municipal Partnership to develop innovative policies and actions to address the challenges and opportunities that migration brings to their municipalities. In this workshop, we will use an interactive methodology called “City Share” to match up different local bodies and to explore the possibility of future partnerships within the ICLD Municipal Partnership Programme (MPP).
