He has served for 22 years as a Senior Governance Adviser with the British Government’s former Department for International Development (DFID), now the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), working across West, East and Southern Africa.He has also served as Country Manager (Chief of Party) for the USAID Local Impact Governance Project for four years, supporting decentralisation reforms in Zambia. Mr. Wilfred (Wilf) K. Mwamba has supported several international development organisations, including Diakonia (Sweden), to develop systems and tools that advance citizen engagement, accountability and responsive service delivery by the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

Alumni Talk: Sustaining reforms beyond project support

A timely conversation connecting research, community action, and policy practice across Africa on communities and institutions can confront the plastic pollution crisis in a just, inclusive, and democratic way.

Dr. Richard Kiaka, Researcher at the Centre for Environment Justice and Development, will share insights from a recent ICLD project on environmental democracy, grassroots innovation, and participatory approaches in plastic governance.

Mrs. Charity Kalombo, Lusaka City Council, will present the successful Know Your Neighbour initiative in Lusaka — a community-based programme strengthening social cohesion, improving waste management, and expanding youth participation.
