ICLD Approach is the unique method of ICLD to bring three operational branches together to collaborate within thematic networks and collectively contribute to strengthening the work of municipal partnerships to forward local democracy.
- The ICLD programme department facilitates structured exchanges and mutual learning between decision-makers and civil servants within the municipal partnership programme, as well as transmitting funding and ensuring the quality of project design.
- The programme department also offers tailored training programmes for the politicians and civil servants participating in the thematic networks, based on ICLD’s pedagogical profile and four core values of local democracy. The training improved participants’ knowledge about the connection between their specific thematic project area and local democracy, in order to improve their ability to institutionalise democratic results in their local government.
- The ICLD knowledge center supports, collects, and disseminates research in the field of local democracy, with a particular focus on providing useful knowledge to municipal partnerships. The research topics are adapted to the specific thematic areas of the networks and to local governments needs.
