Lidköpings kommun and Lusaka City Council
Empowering Youth in Municipal Governance (Project proposal still to be approved)
In Lusaka there is inadequate communication and awareness programs on young people’s rights as well as lack of willingness by the duty bearers (Institutions) to prioritize the young people’s rights in the decision-making processes in Local Governance.
In Lidköping, youth are underrepresented in local policy-making processes, and there is an absence of meaningful youth engagement. As a result there is a disconnection between young people and local governance.
The partners see many potential learning opportunities following these similar chanllenges.
Lusaka aims to ensure the inclusion of minority and under- represented groups, such as youth, in local governance by enhanced information sharing mechanisms and increased cross-boundaty collaboration in youth issues.
The partnership is part of ICLD Human rights youth network
