Youth, Education, and Entrepreneurship
The partnership between Falun and Kolomyia focuses on youth engagement and entrepreneurship, with a strong emphasis on inclusive education. Around 90 students have already participated in educational initiatives as a result of the project, alongside some teacher training.
The project is aligned with several Agenda 2030 goals —particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Falun connects the work to upcoming curriculum reforms, while Kolomyia draws inspiration from Falun’s job fairs and the Young Enterprise (UF) model, with a special focus on encouraging girls to enter male-dominated fields.
On the organisational level, the partnership focuses on staffing and cross-boundary collaboration, community participation and inclusion of minorities.
The mayor of Kolomyia emphasized how well the project is received locally, praising its inclusive approach—particularly its efforts to support people with disabilities in starting businesses: “We are working to ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to start and run their own businesses – it’s good for them and good for the municipality.”
The partnership is part of the ICLD Network for Democratic Resilience.
