WiFi in rural areas and Multi Purpose Civic Centres
This is a two-year project developed as a result of the cooperation between Oskarshamn and Hibiscus coast municipalities. The cooperation is in the field of municipal technical services and it is specifically intended to address telecommunications and data communications infrastructure in the rural areas. The intention is to introduce and improve on the use of wireless local area technology in rural areas through use of voice over internet (VOIP).
The objective of this project is to facilitate decentralization of important information and communication services in order to increase the spread of information and access at the most minimum cost and at the same time ensuring that vital information is accessible to all and especially those in the rural areas.
The target groups for this project are the municipal employees entrusted with information services, the local NGO employees and all the provincial employees in the area. This is because, they are key in the process of ensuring that all the people in the area get and access relevant information. Trainings and study circles will be conducted with the aim of improving on the skills and capabilities of all the municipal employees.
The expected result from the project is that it will be easier for the rural population to access vital information about all the essential provincial services including: healthcare, education, etc.
