To raise awareness on modern waste management for key target groups

The idea for the project is developed from the need for Kisumu to:

• find a site
• reach the different key-target groups that need to be involved in the process.

A good dialogue with the target groups is important to present information, sort out misunderstandings, explain the concept of modern landfill, elucidate why a landfill and a new solid waste management strategy are important, the benefits, the risks etc.

Since public awareness on waste management is something that Nacka has much experience in, this is one important area for cooperation between the municipalities. Nacka municipality could be helpful in finding ways and tools how to identify and address different key target groups in order to increase public awareness on waste management.

The expected result from the project is that Kisumu will identify tools and activities to involve and address key target groups in order to succeed in finding a new site.
