Talk about local democracy focusing on women's participation

15 Juni 2018

Earlier this spring we received a question from the Lottapodden who was curious about what the ICLD does to engage women in democracy development around the world.

Lottakåren runs a pod-talk with talks about peace and democracy focusing on women's participation, with people who work in different ways to create community development and a more secure world.

Therefore, you can now listen to Lottapoddens talk with Shannon Lövgren, who is a programme officer for a couple of leadership development programmes at ICLD focusing to strengthen women's capacity.

Shannon tells about the ICLD's mission to promote local democracy in low-income countries and that one key area is women's participation. When women participate in political decision making, societies get better and satisfaction with political decisions increases. The women who are politicians or civil servants and participate in the training programmes get tools to better support their local governments. They are strengthened in that they have power and can influence. The conversation is in English.
