"Life Without Borders" is an ICLD-funded project in Russian Karelia aimed at breaking the social isolation of persons with functional variability. This is done by increasing their participation in the social and economic life of the municipalities.
The primary focus lay on educating people working within the municipalities to find methods and models to help people with functional variations find work.
It is an 18-month-project that include the three Karel municipalities Kostomuksja, Prjazja and Sortavala.
Also, Petrozavodsk, the “capital” of Karelia, has an active role in the implementation of the project. The work is coordinated by the Swedish-Karelian Information Center (SKBIC) and is conducted on close cooperation with other civil society organizations that operate at a local level.
