På vilket sätt märks arbetet för de globala målen i de internationella utbildningsprogrammen?

ICLD har som ambition att integrera arbetet för de globala målen i alla utbildningsprogram. I dagsläget handlar det om att ha grundläggande utbildningspass om Agenda 203 till att vissa program utgår helt ifrån ett specifikt mål. Alla som deltar i programmen ska få stärkt kapacitet för att se hur de som förändringsagenter kan kan verka för att lokalisera målen .

På vilket sätt märks arbetet för de globala målen i de internationella utbildningsprogrammen?

We have tried to include an introduction to the Global Goals in every international training program. ICLD is in the process of expanding our general training module so that it digs deeper into specific targets that complement the specific themes of our various training programmes, for example, in our Gender programme, we go through each of the 9 targets of goal number 5, Gender Equality, and discuss how we can achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Vilka mål arbetar ni särskilt med i utbildningarna?
In all our international training programmes we provide basic knowledge of the Global Goals. However, some of our programmes have specific themes, such as economic development (goal #8) or women in political leadership (goal 35) where we try to ensure that our participant’s projects for change are working towards fulfilling the specific targets of those goals.

For example, in our political leadership programme in Zimbabwe, one Councillor focused his project for change on goal number 6 (clean water and sanitation). He made it his goal to eliminate open defecation in his Council and began a project to build latrines that would end pollution and disease caused by open defecation but also provide fertilizer for crops after composting the raw waste, which is one of the targets to ensure sanitation.

The knowledge of the politicians and civil servants that participate in our programmes differs from country to country and from area to area. Our goal at ICLD is to make sure that all our participants gain knowledge of the goals and can use them as a tool for planning and prioritizing their work. In the capital of Zambia, we have participants who are already working on achieving the goals and have them as an active part of their national strategy. In Tanzania, many of our participants had never heard of the Global Goals. They were inspired to take some of ICLD’s materials back to their council and share the knowledge and tools to their community groups to get them involved in the worldwide endeavor to create a more equitable and inclusive world for everyone (goal #17 Partnerships for the Goals)

Hur arbetar ni för att öka kunskapen om Agenda 2030 bland de som deltar i utbildningarna?
We provide an introductory lecture on what the Agenda 2030 is and where it evolved from (Millennium Goals) and try to include the goals throughout our training programmes to keep the participants actively thinking about the goals and how to achieve them in their communities. One challenge that affects many of our participants is waste management. After learning about goal #12 (Responsible Consumption and Waste) a number of participants in ICLDs programs have started clean-up programmes in their communities that includes education on reducing waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reusing materials.

Some of our participants have not thought about their role in affecting change at the personal, local and international levels before but discussions about the Global Goals help them see that we must, and can, all work together towards reaching these 17, measurable and achievable goals.
